Schollert white ceramic vase. H: 10 cm Christian Schollert was a pioneer within the functionalist style, who shaped the tendencies of ceramics in the 20s and 30s. The approach was the break with the striving of Romanticism to reflect nature in the works. Instead, the inspiration came from modern technologies and the works therefore showed a clearer and more industrial design, which has found its way into modern home furnishings. Schollert Keramik was produced in Christian's own workshop in Nærum. The workshop opened in 1932 and at the end of the same decade Christian began to produce the well-known ceramic products. Shortly before the outbreak of war, the artist had stocked up on enough raw material to guarantee constant production during the war years. This led to his products becoming a gift hit in a time of rationalization.
